Another approach to a midi device

My original thoughts for making a midi device were very hardware oriented.  This approach involved programing a chip to generate midi signals.

Another approach I have been thinking about lately is more software oriented.  FLS is a DAW that now includes a version of synthmaker. So, you can make your on synths now and play them or sequence them in FLS.  This includes constructing a custom interface that can output midi signals to FLS.

How would this matter? You would have to make a multitouch screen.  Touching the screen responds to you playing the custom interface and sends the midi signals to any instrument you want!!

The only concern with this is the responsiveness. I would either want a Pico pc from Argo Via or a Shuttle PC. The multitouch screen is where the problems would come in. There would need to be an instantaneous response to make it an instrument you can play. I've seen many videos where I was not completely impressed by the response time. I'm sure the touchlib was well written, but I don't think the technology is quite ready for it yet..

Oh well.. I suppose it is back to the original idea of learning to program the 8050 family chips.

International Sales

The wonderful technology of the internet is an amazing and awesome thing. A handful of CDs have been sold to someone in Bangkok, TH. I am guessing this was may be a store of some sort as there were a handful of each (of the 2 CDs presently out) sold. I've been told my music would have a strong international appeal as it has a bit of a 'world' sound to it.

Anyway, I've been doing some schooling, so I haven't worked on a CD this year. It takes me about a year to to create the CD from start to finish. So, the next release should be in early 2010. I've got some side projects up one of my sleeves. I'm going to be looking into some commercial projects.

Have a great year!
